Communication Basics - Communication, Interaction, & Language
In this first course, we’ll give you a solid foundation for understanding how communication ‘creates’ our perspective and then affects the health of our relationships. Part of that understanding requires taking an inventory of our own communication habits, recognizing where we inherited them from, and being given the opportunity to make a positive shift. We’ll give you some foundational mindful communication skills proven to transform your interpersonal and social relationships. It’s never too late.

Restorative Way Communication© - Ancient Wisdom in a Western World
In this course, we’ll show you how to turn conflict into cooperation. You’ll get a comprehensive understanding of what Restorative Way Communication© is, what it does, why it works, and how to do it. Our communication strategies embody an ancient, non-western worldview that sees the purpose of life as being in relationship. When conflict results in broken relationships, Restorative Way Communication© skills and practices repair harm, restore accountability, understanding, respect, responsibility, and reconciliation.

S.H.I.F.T.© - A Trauma-Responsive Restorative Way Communication© Technique
In this course, we’ll teach Restorative Way’s S.H.I.F.T.© technique so you have the tools to support someone in the moment they’re experiencing trauma-related stress and anxiety. This one-on-one interaction technique is backed by the neuroscience of communication, which we dive into before we walk you through the steps of the technique. If you work in a high stress environment, this trauma-responsive communication technique will equip you with the skills to identify the signs of trauma-related stress, and co-regulate a distressed person’s nervous system and emotions.

S.H.A.R.E.© - A Structured Conversation Process
This course will prepare you to facilitate a group discussion to discover and repair the negative impact of destructive conflict. Restorative Way’s S.H.A.R.E.© process is the foundational conversation practice used in workplaces, schools, justice systems, families and community organizations to thoughtfully and comprehensively address incidents, conflicts, and destructive interactions. We will equip you with the knowledge to recognize when to use the S.H.A.R.E.© process, as well as how to facilitate the group conversation.

Programming - People, Policy, Practices, Programming
After training in Restorative Way Communication© practices, clients inevitably ask “how can we embed these communication principles and practices consistently on a day-to-day basis in everyday interaction to address a multitude of conflict contexts?” The answer is programming. Without some type of programming that continuously coordinates and facilitates restorative practices, the practices fade and old dysfunctional patterns of communication that don’t resolve conflict return. A program provides consistent accountability, empathy, repair, and reconciliation.
In this course we’re going to look at how to implement Restorative Way Communication© conversations and practices on a systemic everyday level using the “4 P’s.” People, Policy, Practices, Programming. Whether it is a workplace restorative program, school program, or a restorative justice program within the criminal justice system, these “4 P’s” are the foundation for creating and sustaining any high-functioning program.

Self Care for the Restorative Practitioner
Whether you are a restorative facilitator, mediator, divorce coach, therapist, program director, team member, administrator, educator or a parent, we're intentionally putting ourselves in the middle of emotionally charged situations on a regular basis. And sometimes, our own nervous system and emotions get activated by those we are working with. Can the 5 step restorative process be used as an intrapersonal method to help us move through our own anxieties and tensions with grace? The answer is yes.
As we’ll see in this course, embracing the restorative way for ourselves equips us with the soothing and regulation techniques of S.H.I.F.T.© but also the structured process of S.H.A.R.E.© to address something that has happened or is happening to us. In this course we’ll show you how to use these processes to work through that activation and lovingly support yourself.

Restorative Leadership - What does it take to be a restorative leader?
True peace is not merely the absence of conflict but an active pursuit of fairness, justice and equality. That pursuit requires conscious efforts and actions to resolve conflicts, address the root causes, perform repair, and confront inequality and injustice - whether it’s in our families, schools, workplaces or society. True peacemaking involves both a personal and collective commitment, empathy, and a willingness to make sacrifices for the greater good.
In this course we’ll show you what it takes to be a Restorative Leader. We’ll review the values and principles of the restorative ethos, and equip you with a step-by-step plan of action to implement restorative practices in your family, workplace, school, organization or community.
